Critical Pedagogy in Modern Foreign Languages Education
Activity: Talk or presentation types › Invited talk
Critical pedagogy aims to develop critical consciousness, empower students, challenge power relations, and promote social justice. It places the voices of the disempowered at the centre of its praxis. Decolonisation of the curriculum and international solidarity (as distinct from neoliberal internationalisation) are inherent to critical pedagogy. Its dialogic methods advance interdisciplinarity in both in-person and online activities. When envisaged as a transcultural, translingual, and transdisciplinary mode of learning, critical pedagogy provides a powerful framework for integrating research, teaching, and engagement in language education.
