Professor Robert Young - Recipient
1/10/2012 → 30/09/2017
Individual quantum dots will be used to controllably convert quantum states of light to quantum states of matter, and vice versa. Devices based on this technology will form the building blocks of quantum networks, and the long term aim of this fellowship is to create a quantum internet, which is capable of sharing information encoded on single quantum states between remote parties. A new paradigm of information technology is approaching that will share and process quantum information, and this could have as large an impact on our lives as the digital information revolution did.
