This event connected an interdisciplinary group of philosophers, theologians, and social scientists examining the ways in which multiple religious discourses and conceptions of divinity, as well as secularism, index the political, military, institutional, cultural and technological crises of modernity in its global dimensions. As the tension between secular and religious trends has become central to the fundamental debates about the nature of the modern ethos, as renewed anxieties about religions and divinities shape world affairs, there is an express need to interrogate the question of divinity in various traditions.
