Working with Blackburn’s community digital fabrication makerspace The Making Rooms, our research study which is exploring whether improving access to better repair knowledge, skills and tools for internet-connected smart devices within local communities could contribute to the reduction of electronic waste and potentially help build a more sustainable society. This workshop is the first stage of the study, which brings together key stakeholders to investigate the limitations of the recently implemented Right-to-Repair legislation which does not account for the repair of smart devices.
