Being betwixt and between: On organisms, nodes and networks Abstract: In this paper I engage with questions of connectivity by examining the role of two ovine breeds in the economic regeneration of rural communities in the Maritime Alps and the Catalan Pyrenees. The paper focuses on this role’s importance to understanding the relationship between nodes and networks, especially where the nodes take organic form and mortality becomes a matter of concern. The resulting discussion is structured around questions of material constitution, the topological arrangement of components parts, and temporal structure. The discussion also moves from Deleuzian perspectives on the body, through related questions about the relationship between human and non-human animals, to Nancean understanding of multiplicity and touch.
