Lancaster Music Festival
Activity: Participating in or organising an event types › Festival/Exhibition/Concert
Over two days, we presented three VR experiences and introduced the research conducted at the Lancaster Infant and Child Development Lab. We also engaged the public through research-inspired arts and crafts activities.
Below are the VR experiences that were offered. These VR experiences were a co-creation between the ISS Innovation Hub and the Psychology Department at Lancaster University.
1) An introduction to Babylab at the Uni
How do babies learn to understand the world around them and master one of the most puzzling of phenomena - language? Lancaster Babylab is working to answer these questions. Find out more and how you can help.
2)VR Jukebox in the Womb
Experience what a baby hears in the womb
What does a baby hear in the womb? Come and find out with JUKEBOX IN THE WOMB, a fantastic virtual reality experience featuring music from local musicians and festival favourites including Uptown Monotones, Massive Wagons and Lowes.
3) VR Music and Deafness
Experience what hearing loss is like
Ever wondered what it's like to be deaf? Experience it in virtual reality with The PELiCAN Lab! You’ll be able to hear how mild to profound hearing loss affects music, as well as what music sounds like with a cochlear implant. We think you'll be surprised!
4) VR Imagination Cave
AI art created by your response to music
What thoughts and images come to your mind when you hear music? How does music inspire creativity? Visit the Imagination Cave to find out. Choose music to listen to and use your imagination to empower AI to create personalised digital artworks based on your creative associations.
