The "Placemaking with Young Adults" project was individually shortlisted in two categories, namely Community Involvement and Public/Public Partnership. Shortlisting was from over 900 entries to the awards. In the categories it was shortlisted in, the project competed with Projects such as a £1.5 billion Nutrient Neutrality initiative in Norfolk and an Angela Ruskin University collaboration which secured over £80 million in funding.
Community Involvement Finalist: Lancaster City Council / Lancaster University. This category concentrated on the Placemaking with Young Adults project.
The jury provided positive feedback, noting the project's innovative approach to engaging young people in land use planning. They expressed interest in understanding the long-term implications of this initiative on future policy, describing it as a robust project with significant potential for future impact.
Public/Public Partnership Finalist: Lancaster City Council / Lancaster University. This category concentrated on the Placemaking with Young Adults project. The jury commended the project's innovative partnership approach to engagement, which effectively harnesses and translates young people's ideas and ambitions into policy formation and scheme implementation. Although the project is in its nascent stages, the panel was impressed by the ambition and stakeholder engagement, including political leadership, the regeneration team, and developers. They expressed enthusiasm for the project's next phase, which involves broader community engagement and implementation.
