Roundtable talk: Encounters and Mis-Deliveries
Activity: Talk or presentation types › Public Lecture/ Debate/Seminar
What happens when we encounter the other in theatre? What are the linguistic and political implications? Just like when we cross borders, misunderstandings, misinterpretations, mistranslations and mis-deliveries are common in performances. We explore some of these as dramaturgical processes that question the notion of crossing borders, movement, migrants and tourists.
This was a roundtable talk, part of Japan-Britain Contemporary Theatre Exchange June 2024 with Dr Kyoko Iwaki (Associate Professor, University of Antwerp), Dr Richard Talbot (Senior Lecturer, University of Salford) and Beri Juraic (LICA, Lancaster University) with Dr Karen Jürs-Munby (Senior Lecturer, Lancaster University) as chair.
