Royal Anniversary Trust

I am writing to ask whether you would be willing and able to join our national Reader’s panel which assists the Royal Anniversary Trust in assessing work submitted by universities and colleges to The Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education. Your name has been suggested to me by Mr Peter Cheese, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, who I approached on this subject. The Prizes are the highest national honour that can be awarded to an education institution and are presented by The Queen within the national honours system for outstanding work of high public benefit. We draw our Reader’s from across the widest range of UK life, and the panel includes academics, educationalists, people from business and social enterprise, all with a passion for education. I know your knowledge and expertise will provide a fresh perspective, and I hope you will consider joining the panel. The burden on Readers time is much reduced by the large panel we are able to assemble. Readers are asked to assess no more than two entries, taking around 3 hours in total. The work is done anonymously and individually (e.g. from home or office) and electronically, to save time. The assessment timetable runs from 8-23 April (Stage 1) and then from 30 April to 14 May (Stage 2). It is customary to honour Readers that assist us at a celebratory reception at St James’s Palace in November 2015 when prize-winners are announced. If you able to join the panel please let me know via Esmerelda Jelbart Wallbridge who is co-ordinating this exercise in the Prizes Office. Her email is esmerelda.jelbart.wallbridge@education.gsi.gov.uk or you can speak with us on 0870 242 7160. Please include your preferred postal address, email address, and telephone contact details.
