This is an article I wrote for The Conversation commenting on a Nature paper quantifying the number of premature deaths associated with exposure to outdoor air pollution, and building on work I am doing addressing urban air quality in China.

Parts of the article were subsequently quoted in a range of media outlets:
Dr Oliver Wild, an atmospheric scientist at Lancaster University in the UK said: "The study really brings home the need for air quality controls to avoid these additional deaths, particularly in heavily populated parts of Asia".
