We are pleased to announce the publication of the Journal of Arabic and Islamic Studies (vol. 2009).

This open access journal is edited by Dr Alex Metcalfe and published online by Lancaster University. This latest volume includes articles on: Islam political thought and democracy in Morocco; the typology of modern Arabic dialects; Arabic epistolography in the 1800s; the architecture of medieval medinas; and the concept of 'conscience' in Arabic thought and writing.
