What happens to mobilities in crises?

Press/Media: Research

Description

In this 15-minutes interview, Monika talks about how mobilities research can help improve disaster management practices and discussed her work in the BRIDGE project:

“In the BRIDGE project I work with a group of about fifty computer scientists and emergency response professionals to co-design better communication technologies, communication infrastructures, and communication practices for a multi-agency emergency response in major disasters. But the massively distributed collaboration that’s required under these circumstances raises immense challenges. And time and time again, post-disaster reflections on these response efforts across the globe highlight communication, coordination and collaboration as problematic.”
