Organisation profile

CASCPP is an interdisciplinary research centre based in the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts. The main function of the centre is to generate and lead research into what constitutes creative practice in performance across a range of areas and cultural activities. Its aims and objectives are:

1) to promote, interrogate and engage with practice-as-research projects in collaboration with leading and emerging professional artists;

2) to negotiate practices and theoretical discourses exploring feminism, identity politics, aesthetics, narrative, the body, technology and historiography;

3) to examine the discourses around politics, reception theories and ethics in order to assess the ways in which performance engages with the decision-making processes that occur in all levels of culture and its governance.
