Organisation profile

The STOR-i Centre for Doctoral Training, a joint venture between the departments of Mathematics and Statistics and Management Science, offers a four-year PhD programme in Statistics and Operational Research (STOR) developed and delivered with industrial partners.

It aims to develop a new generation of researcher capable of making a real impact in both academic and industrial fields.

STOR-i was established in 2010 and has built an international reputation for the quality of its research training at the interface of statistics and OR with industry. The multi-million pound award included substantial investment from EPSRC, Lancaster University and several key industrial partners including BT, Shell, Unilever and the Met Office.

In November 2013 it was announced that STOR-i would continue to develop as one of a new generation of Centres for Doctoral Training awarded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). This second major investment will fund 60 students entering the Centre's doctoral programme in five cohorts from 2014.
