Research overview

I have a long-standing interest in spatial navigation, from neurobiological, comparative, cognitive and developmental perspectives, with my empirical research focusing on developmental research in the area.  The basic questions in this field concern how we maintain a sense of orientation as we navigate through the world, and how we code and remember places and environments that we have previously visited.  More recently I have been involved with research on the neuropsychological consequences of childhood epilepsy, and on how services for children with epilepsy and their families can be improved.
