Profile

Ajaz graduated in Computer Science, joining IBM UK Ltd advising clients on large scale outsourcing programmes across the government, finance and retail sectors. Consequently, Ajaz supported graduate recruitment activities as a qualified assessor, delivering skills development workshops to undergraduates and mentoring new hires, receiving several IBM awards and stock options for his contribution. He then moved into the public sector, teaching ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages), IT and Citizenship across adult and community learning, before moving into higher education where he was awarded a distinction for his Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance.

Ajaz joined Lancaster University in 2011 and is focused on delivering a high quality careers service for Masters' students across the Management School. He is an associate member of AGCAS (Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services) and member of the ICG (Institute of Careers Guidance).

Professional Role

Ajaz is responsible for:

  • Providing one-to-one careers advice, guidance and coaching to Management School Masters' students and alumni
  • Developing local and global relationships and creating opportunities for staff, students, alumni and recruiters to network, learn and share
  • Designing and delivering bespoke and integrated careers provision across 16 Masters' programmes and within credit-bearing modules in MSc Accounting & Finance and MSc Management
  • Working closely with academic colleagues to facilitate understanding of graduate recruitment expectations, labour market trends and postgraduate destinations
