Research overview

My doctoral research is a linguistic ethnographic study of leadership and talk at work designed to explore the interactional work managers do to change ideas and practices. My research asks what an analysis of spoken interaction reveals about leadership work.  I am also interested in women’s experience of workplace conversations, their perceptions and their practices with regard to power and influence in everyday spoken interactions, and the implications of these for changing organisational practice.
