Catherine has worked in the health service for nearly twenty years. Catherine qualified as a nurse working predominantly in acute settings, within the women's health field, and she continues working in clinical practice within a local Genito Urinary Medicine clinic having previously undertaken training in HIV & AIDS care. Catherine went on to undertake work in Evidence Based Practice through various posts but particularly supporting nursing and allied health professionals in identifying the evidence base for practice. This led to posts in the NHS supporting practitioners to develop research and evidence based practice skills. Catherine undertook her MA in Health Research at Lancaster University. She has experience of NHS Research Ethics, sitting on a Local Research Ethics Committee for three years as a Nurse Representative. Most recently Catherine has worked as a Research and Development Manager in an Acute NHS Trust. Catherine joined the HRDN team in January 2004 with a specific remit to support R&D in the Cumbria and Lancashire area.
