My current research focuses on the concept of self-control and attempts to address why initially exerting self-control has frequently been reported to produce a temporary deterioration in self-control performance in a later task. In particular, I am exploring whether having higher relative to lower levels of motivation has an ameliorating effect on self-control depletion as well as investigating whether a physiological resource such as glucose plays a role in the successful application of self-control.
