Biography

David joined PALATINE in 2001, excited by the opportunity to combine his interests in the arts and higher education. His work involves meeting academics to learn about the needs and priorities of their subject areas and institutions, research and evaluation for various projects and events, responding to enquiries relating to music in higher education, and helping to ensure that various topics, projects and outcomes get represented on the PALATINE website. Since 2003, David has also been managing the PALATINE Development Awards.

Before joining PALATINE, David was an Associate Lecturer and research student at Cardiff University, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate social science modules while completing an ESRC-funded PhD in educational sociology. He also holds an MA in musicology and an MSc in social research. David's research interests include music as an HE discipline, academic cultures and identities, effects of audit on research and teaching, sociology of doctoral work, and qualitative research methods.
