Research overview

I am interested in the following matters:

Anti-oppressive practice.  I have critically examined conceptualisations of race and sexuality that are currently pervasive in social work. With Steve Hicks, I'm writing a book, Social Work Sexualities: Practice, Research, Theory, to be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2016.

Ethnographies of children’s social work.  My doctoral research concerns how children’s social workers practise in and make sense of space and place.

Public sex spaces.  As well as their use for sex, I am interested in public toilets as key sites for negotiation of disability, gender and transgender matters
