Research Interests

I am a medical statistician with interests in epidemiology and child health. I am particularly interested in the development of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) for use in clinical trials and patient management (eg. Alder Hey Triage Pain score, EARLI, MDAT, ADNAT, Synacthen test, CLCF). Related methodological interests include latent variable analysis and structural equation modelling. I am also interested in the analysis of social survey and census data, including the multilevel modelling of clustered binary events, a focus of several of my PhD students, and reducing ecological bias in aggregate level analyses. More broadly, I enjoy working with colleagues on a wide range of multi-disciplinary applications in health and medicine, and have a keen interest in the use of pilot and feasibility studies in preparation for complex interventions, and in statistics education more generally.
