Research overview

I am a PhD Student in Environmental Science researching about digital agricultural marketplaces in Colombia. The aim of my work is to explore how digital transformation and digital enclosures may influence the perception of landownership and the distribution of agricultural rent. My interest in data science is centred in understanding the disruptions that information technologies are creating along the institutional frameworks (I.e. blockchain and smart-contracts) and how they would influence global agricultural and food systems. Currently I'm interested in the areas of cloud geographies and algorithms’ governance in order to expand my research into the financialization of land, in order to foresee if the use of agricultural platforms as Ocado or Hello Fresh would create an uberization of the global rural areas.
