Research overview

My research focuses on the measurement of anthropogenic and biogenic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using proton transfer reaction-mass spectrometry (PTR-MS). Working within the Sources and Emissions of Air Pollutants in Beijing (AIRPOLL-Beijing) project I aim to record VOC concentrations and fluxes during periods of high pollution and to identify their sources.

My other research interests include the impact of science on policy. Working within the Socially and Environmentally Sustainable Oil palm Research (SEnSOR) programme I have prepared science for policy reports on soil erosion within oil palm plantations and the impact of palm oil production on greenhouse-gas and VOC emissions.
