Research Interests

After gaining her B.A. in English Literature from Oxford University, Kate won a scholarship to do her PhD at Harvard University where shedid a wide range of undergraduate teaching. After a one-year lectureship at Harvard, she returned to the UK to take a Creative Writing M.A. at Lancaster University.

Kate has been working as a research associate and web designer for transculturalwriting.com and is a tutor in part 2 creative writing at Lancaster. She has taught literature and writing on both sides of the Atlantic and completed a volunteer teaching stint in Uganda. Her short stories have been published by Storyglossia, Momaya Press and Best British Crime Stories. She has forthcoming poems in Erbacce magazine and she won 1st prize in the Sentinel Literary Quarterly Poetry Competition, July 2010. She has just completed her first novel, a gothic mystery entitled Secrets of the Skin.

Kate has worked as Researcher for the Radiophonics project, organised Online Prose and Poetry Workshops on Crossing Borders, co-curated the 'Writing Manchester' exhibition at the Manchester Central Library and is currently working on the Lancaster/Uganda Friends Writing Project website.
