I was an undergraduate at Lancaster University, studying for an MPhys in Physics starting from 2014. Wishing to expand my knowledge outside of Physics while staying industrially connected, I took part in the STOR-i Internship during the summer of 2017. The internship has inspired me to graduate early with a BSc in Physics and join the full STOR-i program immediately after.

My PhD project is centred around devising effective operational research approaches, using methodology from applied probability and dynamic programming, to guide analysts in identifying information, which has the potential to become intelligence, based on the source of the information. The collection of information sources is modelled as a multi-armed bandit where the characteristics of the arms need to be learnt. The novelty of our approach is to consider not only the probability of an information source providing useful intelligence, but the time it takes to evaluate a piece of information.

This project is in collaboration with the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and is supervised by Kevin Glazebrook, Peter Jacko (Lancaster University) and Michael Atkinson (Naval Postgraduate School).
