* Modelling and prediction of vehicular traffic flow
* GPS-free methods for localisation and positioning
* Decision making in sensor networks and tracking

Research overview

Lyudmila Mihaylova is a scientist working in the areas of statistical signal processing, machine learning and intelligent systems. A central focus of her research is estimation for dynamic systems, target tracking and decision making, with various applications, such as autonomous systems, localisation in wireless sensor networks and vehicular traffic systems.

Dr Mihaylova was the Academic Chair of the 13th International Conference on Information Fusion, 2010, held in Edinburgh, UK, the co-chair IET Data Fusion & Target Tracking 2012 Conference, London, UK, Liaison chair for the KES-2012 16th Annual International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems, Spain, 2012 and on many others.

She is an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions of Aerospace and Electronic Systems, of Signal Processing Elsevier Journal and the Editor-in-Chief of the Open Transportation Journal.

Dr Mihaylova is an EPSRC Peer Review College Member, since November 2012 and on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Information Fusion (2011-2013).
