Research overview

I am particularly interested in understanding physiological responses of plants in a context of climate change building up on my background in plant ecophysiology (plant ageing, hormone regulation, drought stress, antioxidants) where the identification of traits of economic interest can contribute to improve food systems sustainability.

Currently, I am involved in the the project "Combining field phenotyping and next generation genetics to uncover markers, genes and biology underlying drought tolerance in wheat" being responsible to investigate physiological and biochemical phenotypes in an extensive collection of wheat, with the aim of understanding the mechanism of drought tolerance.
