Matthew is researching and developing a new instrument that can measure the effective dose of a neutron field, taking into account direction. Having been overlooked for many years, research is now starting to take into account the directional distribution of the neutron work place field. The impact of not taking this into account has lead to over conservative estimates of effective dose in neutron workplace fields. This research is an EPSRC CASE Award in collaboration with National Physical Laboratory.
