Research overview

Research is on legal reforms for the Nigerian Capital Market. Analysing, discussing, and identifying some key rules that affect capital market transactions. Furthermore, the thesis identifies  loopholes, insufficiency or lack thereof  of some sacrosanct rules with its focal market been the Nigerian Capital Market. Finally, the thesis suggests some likely solutions that will be feasible to the Nigerian Capital Market. In making suggestions this thesis carries out a comparative analysis with other countries laws and how they tackled such problems. 

The thesis deals with concepts such as 'The theory of an efficient capital market', 'Insider trading' & 'Legal transpants' amongst others.

Profile

Okiemute Akpomudje is a PhD student at Lancaster University Uk, he holds an LLM from City University London and LLB(Hons) from University of Wolverhampton.

He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria where he was called to the bar in 2010 having completed the mandatory Nigerian Law School programme for a year.

He worked as an Associate in Consolex Legal Practitioner's (A reputable law firm in Nigeria with 5 branches around the country). 

He is currently working on two papers to be published by the end of the year.
