Research overview

In my PhD I applied large scale computerised modelsd to the evaluation, design and uncertainty analysis of the impacts of "natural" flood management interventions. I am now working in a LEC team in partnership with JBA Consulting and the River Trust in a 3.5 year long NERC-funded project into determining the effectiveness of these techniques, and to develop these computer models further.

Research Interests

  • Runoff modelling
  • Flood modelling
  • High performance computing applied to environmental systems
  • Hydraulic modelling of flood mitigation structures
  • Water quality modelling
  • Stochastic environmental models
  • Natural flood management
