Profile

Phil Jones is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Lancaster Leadership Centre (LLC) at Lancaster University Management School.  He holds a PhD in the evaluation of management development from King’s College, University of London and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD (MCIPD).  He teaches behavioural aspects of management, including Leadership, Organisational Behaviour and Strategic HRM, on a variety of full and part-time post-graduate programmes, including the Executive and Global MBA programmes; and has supervised PhD students through to successful completion.

 

After several years as a manager in the leisure industry, Phil became a full time academic in 1989.  He has held full time academic posts at University of Leicester; King’s College London; Butler University, Indianapolis; and University of Westminster.  He has carried out senior administrative roles including Director of full-time MBA, Director of Undergraduate Studies and Chief External Examiner. He has published peer reviewed papers in the areas of management discourse; metaphor and organization theory; and the use of the outdoors for management development. He has worked with a many large and well known organisations including Continental Tires, USA; Gillette UK; Kodak UK; London Underground; UK Ministry of Defence; UK Benefits Agency; The Outward Bound Trust; Airbus UK; BAE Systems; Cooperative Financial Services and several London Boroughs.
