Thesis Title

Systematic prioritizing of chemicals and pathways of concern under China REACH.

Current Research

My PhD project will study the development of systematic prioritization schemes for chemicals and pathways of concern under the newly introduced chemicals regulations in China (China REACH). We envisage collation of information on the chemicals manufactured and used in China, their properties and likely fate and transport in the environment, and human/wildlife exposure.  Modelling tools will be used for these assessments, with the intention of helping ‘screen’ those chemicals and pathways which should be prioritized for more detailed risk assessments. We will work closely with China’s organization responsible for development of chemical regulatory priorities, and consider development of useful, transparent and systematic approaches for chemicals evaluation.
