Dr Simon Vecten

Former Research Student

Research overview

Simon Vecten is a postgraduate researcher with interests in the generation of sustainable and clean energy. The aim of the PhD project is the development of an innovative technology: microwave induced plasma gasification. Experimental studies are currently demonstrating the exceptional properties of microwave plasma such as extremely high temperatures up to 6,000°C. Those properties are ideal for the efficient conversion of waste and biomass into clean energy. This technology could become one of the solutions required for the transition from fossil fuels to low carbon economy while providing sustainable waste treatment.
