My research aims to understand the linguistic processes that underpin trust in online groups.  My work applies computer text analysis in field and lab experiments in order to shed light on the link between language and trust.  This involves identifying the linguistic techniques that elicit trust (Trust work) as well as the linguistic patterns that reflect mutual trust.  The research has applications in domains where monitoring of trust within online groups is important to security and defence.
