Abstract

Bluetooth application developers have to address technical challenges imposed by the heterogeneity of the wide range of hardware and software capabilities present in the Bluetooth enabled devices. The wireless nature and the mobility of devices place an added strain on resource management. To manage such diversity of software and hardware, middleware based solution with the emphasis on transport level quality of service (QoS) management is proposed. An implementation of the common object request broker architecture (CORBA) interoperability protocol over Bluetooth logical link control and adaptation protocol (L2CAP) and L2CAP level QoS abstraction as CORBA service context and tagged components is presented. Service context information is added to the request and reply messages through portable interceptors, which in return signals a manager object of QoS level requirements
