Schad (when at Loughborough University) organised the two conferences from which this volume derives - the first featured, at Schad's invitation, the visit of Jacques Derrida (November 2001) and the second featured (again at Schad's invitation) both Sir Frank Kermode and Christopher Norris (April 2002). As regards the volume itself, Schad conceived the original idea, wrote the preface, wrote the final essay, and did all the editing of the texts for all four interviews.
