A detailed but accessible study of the garden landscape at Brantwood, Coniston, Cumbria, the former home of John Ruskin. The gardens are set in a ancient mixed oak/hazel coppiced woodland and were designed by: John Ruskin (between c.1852 and 1890); Joan Severn, Ruskin's cousin (between c.1890 and 1900); and Sally Beamish, the current Head gardener who also restored the Ruskin and Severn gardens (between c.1985 and the present).
