The initial concept and plan of the volume was Spooner's. Subsequent planning, the editing of essays and writing of introductory material were shared equally between the two editors. Administrative responsibilities, including liaison with publishers and contributors, preparation of the manuscript and indexing, were principally undertaken by Spooner with additional assistance from McEvoy. Overall division of editorial responsibilities was approximately Spooner 55%, McEvoy 45%. Spooner also contributed one authored essay to the volume and McEvoy contributed two.
