Abstract

This article considers two Spanish translations of two poems by William Wordsworth, published in the second decade of the twentieth century. The central aim behind this examination is that of studying the impact that the degree of rewriting exercised by the translators had on the shaping of the image of the poet and his work that was conveyed to his Spanish readers during the 1920s. To this end, we propose an interdisciplinary approach chiefly grounded on Comparative Literature, along with some postulates and methodological tools closely linked to that discipline, including the ones derived from Reception Studies and Translation Studies.
