Abstract

This paper re-conceptualise Crossan, Lane and White’s (1999) 4I organisational learning (OL) framework in order to examine moral as well as immoral individual and organisational developments. The original framework is recast in the light of the worldview of Islam, specifically related to the concept of “purification of the heart” which captures the dynamics of moral character development. Simply extending this to the group and organisational level, a reconceptualised framework is conceived called organisational learning by hearts (OLH). It is hoped that the framework can contribute to the discussion on moral organisational learning as well as immoral.
