Abstract

We report on work in progress in the ReTINA project. A new architecture for supporting real-time multimedia services is being developed, implemented and tested. This new architecture is characterised by the application of distributed object principles to the control plane of the network. We show how this separation enables the maintenance of QoS estimates for the network and their use in routing and high-level admission control. At the application level we show how Winsock 2 can complement the architecture. Partial performance results for a restricted network are presented.
