Abstract

The hydrogenation of two liquid terpenes, alpha-pinene and limonene, was carried out in the presence of high-pressure carbon dioxide, using carbon-supported Pt catalysts. Phase equilibrium data on terpene + CO(2) + hydrogen were used to interpret the kinetics of hydrogenation in liquid + vapor systems close to the critical lines of the mixtures.
