Deploying an experimental 'node network' covering downtown San Jose for 7 days, it tracked and engaged with 2,500 people more than 500,000 times. ISEA2006's Director stated: {"}{"}In the inverted logic of the post-Orwellian city, Loca agents, software and human, decrypt the hertzian passages of its own inhabitants. For better or for worse?{"}{"} (statement published in the project film). And wrote in the formal letter of invitation: {"}{"}Your piece, Loca, is a significant project that displays great clarity as well as originality, and will help make this a very exciting and memorable Festival.{"}{"} Chosen as the lead feature in NBC television's ISEA2006 coverage, and characterised in a New York Times feature as: {"}{"}a policy- minded research effort with the art serving as its public face{"}{"}. Presented in online gallery curated by Paterson (Finland), Wan (Hong Kong) and Hur (Korea) for Leonardo Electronic Almanac.
