Abstract

Dan Dubowitz, (Collaborative Urbanism programme for ‘The Avenues’) together with Nich Smith (Lighting, ‘The Avenues’) warmly invite you to join us on a night walk lead by Prof. Nick Dunn (author of Dark Matters). As part of the programme to transform the streetscape in Glasgow city centre, Civic Works are developing a series of collaborative projects. The Collaborative urbanism is looking to develop new insights of Glasgow city centre’s public realm and establish new collaborations, to kick this off we are undertaking a series of 5 salons. The second of these salons will be walk from the Lighthouse, through back lanes, along the Clyde to the cathedral like undercroft of the Kingston Bridge and Anderston Station. Night time allows as to see the city anew. Glasgow is transformed from the concrete city we know in the day to an entity we can glimpse. fleetingly, in a state of change at night. Walking and talking on an early winters evening is an opportunity to dwell upon the significance of night time design in the rethinking of Glasgow’s public realm.
