Abstract

We examine the possibility of fluctuation induced transitions in a cubic bistable electronic circuit. Soft transitions are found to occur in the presence of a dichotomous modulation, but appear to be absent when the system is subject to a harmonic modulation. Despite these differences, the behaviours of the supports of the probability densities arising in the two cases are rather similar. In particular they each exhibit an anomaly over a limited range of the amplitude of fluctuation V0, over which the supports shrink as V0 increases.
