Bibliographic note

The article itself is entirely Pumfrey's work, although much of the primary source material was collated by Dawbarn as Pumfrey's research assistant. Dawbarn also took part in discussions with Pumfrey about the article and made suggestions to earlier drafts. The article presents pilot research and hypotheses which led to the award of a major AHRC research grant. Having read the article, the AHRC's independent assessor judged that the research had ""the capacity to change our understanding of the history of British science.' Pumfrey is now writing the related monograph, due for completion in Spring 2009. RAE_import_type : Journal article RAE_uoa_type : History
