N2 - This is my second Editorial for Qualitative Social Work. My first explored my contention that social work is sensory work (Morriss, 2017), reflecting the reading I was immersed in at the time about sensory ethnography. The theme for this Editorial also reflects something that I am currently thinking about: the invisibility of Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in social work. Following recent discussions on social media, I realise this is a concern that many in our discipline share. Through this Editorial, I hope to show the significance of social work research and the importance of supporting social work doctoral students and ECRs.
