There is growing recognition of the value of geophysical techniques for assisting in the characterization of patterns of exchange between groundwater and surface-water bodies. Understanding such patterns can be critical for management and protection of water resources and can, for example, help in developing hydrological models that are needed for predicting future stresses to water bodies, both in terms of water quantity and quality.
