Gender-based violence costs the EU28 €259 billion each year. This is due to lost economic output because of injuries, the use of public services (e.g. health, criminal justice), and the public’s valuation of the physical and emotional impacts. The study reviewed developments in the methodology of estimating the cost of gender-based violence in order to identify best practice.
